Terms of Service
The agreement between you and 974 E-Sports Team for using our website: accounts, team applications, driver profiles, events, the driver dashboard and coaching. Written to be read, with your rights set out alongside ours.
Who we are and acceptance of these Terms
974 E-Sports Team (974, we, us) is an independently operated sim-racing team based in Qatar, competing in Le Mans Ultimate and iRacing. We are a team of drivers and volunteers; we are not a registered company or licensed commercial organisation, and these Terms do not claim otherwise.
These Terms of Service (the Terms) govern your use of the 974 E-Sports Team website and the services available through it in this version: user accounts, team applications, driver profiles, race results, events and the driver dashboard, the coaching directory and booking tools, and the partnership enquiry form (together, the Services).
By using the Services, creating an account, submitting an application, booking a coaching session or sending an enquiry, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Some activities have their own rules, for example the entry requirements for a specific event. Where those rules conflict with these Terms, the specific rules apply to that activity.
Eligibility and younger users
- Accounts. You may create an account if you are able to agree to these Terms under the law that applies to you, or if your parent or legal guardian agrees to them on your behalf where that is required.
- Team applications. Applicants for a driver seat must be at least 16 years old when they apply. This is a team requirement in addition to any legal age requirement that applies to you.
- Under the age of majority. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the Services only with the knowledge and agreement of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use of them, including the publication of a driver profile (Section 5) and appearance in race coverage (Section 6). The website does not collect that agreement itself; we may ask for evidence of it and may decline or limit a Service for a younger user where we consider that appropriate.
- Coaching. A coaching session may be booked and paid for only by someone legally able to enter that arrangement with the coach, which for a younger user normally means a parent or guardian.
User accounts
Some Services need an account. Registration asks for your name, email address and country, and verifies your email address with a one-time code. When you create an account you agree to the following.
- Accurate information. You will provide true, current and complete information and keep it up to date.
- Your credentials. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that takes place under your account. Choose a strong password and do not reuse one from another service.
- One person per account. Accounts are personal. Do not share, transfer or lend your account.
- Unauthorised access. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. We may suspend an account while we look into it.
- Closing your account. You may ask us to close your account at any time by emailing us from the address on the account. Section 15 explains what happens on suspension or closure, and the Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information.
Team applications and membership
You may apply to join the team as a driver, or in a team role, through the website. Submitting an application does not oblige us to accept you and does not make you a member of the team.
- We assess applications against the requirements published on the application page and on factors such as racing experience, racecraft, consistency, availability, conduct and how well we think you would fit the team.
- Everything you submit must be accurate and must be about you. Fabricated statistics, borrowed accounts or misrepresented results may lead to rejection or removal from the team.
- Decisions on applications are at our discretion, subject to applicable law. The outcome is shown in your dashboard and sent to you by email; we are not obliged to give reasons.
- Acceptance may be subject to a trial period or further conditions, which we will communicate to you.
- Membership is not employment. Applying to, joining or racing with the team does not create an employment, agency or partnership relationship between you and 974, and does not entitle you to payment, expenses or prize money unless we agree that with you separately in writing. Any such agreement is separate from these Terms.
- Team membership is separate from the publication of a driver profile. Being a member does not by itself publish anything about you; Section 5 explains how profiles are published.
Driver profiles and submitted statistics
Approved team members may submit a public driver profile from the driver dashboard: name, country, driver number, a short biography, a photo, the simulators they race and their statistics in each (races, wins, podiums and podium rate, plus each simulator’s ratings or licence class).
- Approval before publication. Nothing you submit is published until a team admin approves it. Admins may approve, reject or ask you to change a submission, and they may edit, unpublish, mark inactive or remove a profile at any time. Changes to an already published profile are reviewed before they replace the public version.
- Accuracy. Statistics must be your own and must be honest. We may correct, remove or decline statistics we reasonably believe to be wrong or falsified.
- What becomes public. An approved profile appears on the Drivers page and on your own profile page, together with the published race results you took part in. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is shown.
- Photos and biographies. You must have the right to use any photo you upload, and it must show you. We may decline a photo or biography that is unsuitable for the team's public pages.
Race results, events and participation
- Results. Race results on the website are the team's record of the events we have raced, published and maintained by admins. They may name the drivers and contributors who took part. Results form part of the team's history and may remain published after a driver leaves the team.
- Events and registration. The schedule shows the events the team enters. Approved members may register for an event, give their availability and be placed in a lineup by an admin. Registration is an expression of interest; a seat is confirmed only when you are placed in a lineup. We may change or cancel events, lineups and seats when circumstances require.
- Racing with the team. You race using your own simulator account, content, hardware and connection. The rules of the simulator and of the series apply, and incidents in a race are between you, the series and the other competitors. We may remove from the team a driver whose conduct in a race or in the community harms the team.
- Broadcasts and media. Events may be streamed or recorded by the team, by the series or by other participants, and the team may publish its own coverage of them on the website and on its social channels. By racing with the team you agree that your name, driver number, car and in-simulator driving may appear in that coverage. This covers race footage and results; photos and biographies you upload to the website are covered by Section 11 and are not used beyond the website without asking you.
Driver Dashboard
Signed-in members have a dashboard with event registration, assignments and lineups, race and teammate debriefs, notifications, a manual personal-best lap-time log and a fuel and pit-stop calculator. Engineer notes are a separate section for the team's engineers and admins only.
- Team information. Lineups, debriefs, engineer notes and other dashboard content are for the team's own use. Do not share them outside the team unless the author agrees or they are already public.
- Feedback about others. Accepted drivers can send private written feedback to a teammate of the same programme, for a website race or for a race organised elsewhere. The sender can edit it (the original date is kept and the edit is marked) and can delete it. The recipient and the sender can reply under it in a private conversation, and each may edit or delete only their own replies. Deleting feedback or a reply removes its words from both of you; the website keeps a short record that it existed and when it was withdrawn. Feedback and replies are read only by the two of you and by team admins, who may hide content that breaks these Terms and restore it later; every such action is recorded with a reason. Hidden content stays stored for moderation but cannot be read, edited or replied to by either participant. Engineer notes are read by the engineer who wrote them and by admins; a driver only sees one when the engineer explicitly shares it with them as post-race feedback, and sharing can be withdrawn again. Keep all of it honest, specific and respectful.
- Lap times and calculations. The personal-best log stores the lap times you type in and is private to you. The fuel calculator works from the figures you enter. Both are planning aids, not measurements, and we do not guarantee their accuracy.
Coaching
The website is a discovery and booking platform for independent coaches: drivers associated with the team who offer coaching in their own name. You can read a coach's profile, see their services and prices, and book a session in their calendar. Coaching is an active part of the website in this version; the arrangement it leads to is between you and the coach, as set out below.
The coach's responsibilities
- Each coach runs their own coaching. The coach sets their own services, prices, availability and session times, manages their bookings, and delivers the sessions themselves.
- Payment is made to the coach, not to 974. Prices are the coach's own. You pay prepaid sessions and packages directly into the coach's PayPal account through the PayPal.Me link the coach publishes; the website only prepares that link with the amount due. A session marked “pay after” is paid the same way once the coach has completed it. 974 takes no commission or fee; PayPal applies its own terms and fees to the payment. After you pay, you mark the payment as sent, the coach (or a team admin on the coach's behalf) checks it in PayPal and confirms it, and your session credits are released at that point. The website keeps a record of the booking, the amount due, the payment reference, the confirmation and any refund the coach later reports, so you and the coach have the same record.
- Cancellations and refunds are the coach's responsibility. The coach decides and applies their own cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms, consistent with any consumer rights that apply to you, and handles them directly with you.
- Your contract is with the coach. When you book, you enter an arrangement with that coach for the session. The coach, not 974, is responsible for delivering the service, for any payment they receive and for any tax, registration or other obligations that arise from it.
974's responsibilities
- We publish coach profiles, run the booking calendar and confirmations, and pass booking details between you and the coach.
- We take no part in payment. 974 takes no commission or fee from coaching, and does not receive, hold, collect or distribute coaching payments. 974 is not the merchant for any coaching payment and does not process payment details on the website.
- We are not a party to the coaching arrangement, do not deliver sessions and do not promise any outcome from them.
- Contact on Discord. A coach may publish their Discord contact details on their coaching page, and clients whose payment the coach has verified can see them in their dashboard. Discord is an independent third-party service: whether you can reach the coach there depends on Discord's settings and terms, and conversations on Discord are not stored or moderated by 974.
- We may remove a coach from the directory, or cancel bookings in the system, where we believe that is necessary to protect users or the team.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for having the simulator, content, hardware and stable connection the session needs, and for being ready at the start time.
- Treat the coach with respect and follow reasonable conduct guidance. Do not record or redistribute a session or coaching material without the coach's permission.
- Keep your coaching profile and booking details accurate so the coach can prepare.
What coaching does not promise
Coaching, setups and written guidance are opinions and techniques that have worked for the coach. They do not guarantee faster lap times, race results, ratings, licence progress or any particular performance. Your results depend on your practice, ability, equipment and many factors outside anyone's control.
How bookings, cancellations and refunds work
- Booking. When you confirm a booking, the session is placed in the coach's calendar, you receive a confirmation email and the coach is notified. Payment is then arranged directly with the coach.
- Cancelling or rescheduling. You can cancel a booked session from your coaching dashboard, and either you or the coach can propose a new time there; the other side accepts or declines it. Each coach sets their own cancellation deadline and policy, shown before you book and again before you cancel. If you cancel before the deadline, a session paid from a package goes back to your credits. If you cancel after it, the coach's policy applies: the website either does not allow the late cancellation, keeps the credit with the coach, or sends the coach a request to decide; a coach who agrees to a late cancellation returns the credit. Cancelling never refunds a payment by itself; refunds are between you and the coach, as described below.
- Package credits. Credits from a package belong to the coach who sold it: they do not expire, can be used only for sessions with that coach, are not transferred to another coach and are not exchanged for money by 974.
- If a coach leaves the team. A coach who stops coaching with 974 before completing a package you paid for either completes the remaining sessions before leaving or refunds you the full price you originally paid for that package, from their own account. 974 records the refund once the coach has made it but does not hold or pay the money itself.
- Refunds. Any refund is made by the coach, from the payment they received. 974 cannot refund money it did not receive. If a problem cannot be resolved with the coach, contact us at [email protected] and we will try to help.
Partnership enquiries
Companies and organisations may contact us through the partnership enquiry form. Sending an enquiry is not an agreement of any kind; any partnership, sponsorship or collaboration is agreed separately in writing. We will keep what you send to us confidential except where we need to share it within the team to consider it.
Acceptable use
When using the Services you must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, system, data or network, or bypass access controls, verification or content restrictions;
- upload or distribute malicious code, or interfere with the Services, their infrastructure or other users' use of them;
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise extract content or data in a way that harms the Services or breaches Section 11;
- impersonate any person, team or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with us;
- submit false applications, falsified statistics or profiles, or false enquiries;
- harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against team members, coaches, applicants or other users, on the website, in our Discord or in any session;
- share team-internal dashboard content, coaching material or other people's personal information without permission;
- use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law or the rules of the simulators and platforms we use.
We may investigate suspected breaches and may remove content, restrict features or take the steps described in Section 15.
Intellectual property
The 974 E-Sports Team name, our logos and liveries, the website design, graphics, photography, videos, written material, software and other original material on the Services (974 Content) belong to 974 or to the people who created them for the team, and are protected by copyright and other laws to the extent those laws apply.
- You may view 974 Content for your personal, non-commercial use and share links to our pages.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, publish, scrape or create derivative works from 974 Content, or use our name, logos or liveries to suggest an affiliation, without our written permission, except where the law allows it, for example fair quotation.
- Any feedback or suggestions you give us may be used by us without obligation to you.
The number 974. 974 is the international dialling code of Qatar and is used by many people and organisations. Our rights, where they exist, are in our particular name, logos and designs; we claim no exclusive right to the number itself.
Your content. You keep ownership of what you submit through the website, such as a profile photo, biography, application answers, debriefs or lap times. You give us permission to store, display and use it to run the Services, including publishing the parts you submit for publication once approved. We will not use it for advertising or sell it, and if we would like to use it in team media beyond the website, for example a photo in a social post, we will ask you first. Race coverage of events you take part in is different and is covered by Section 6.
Third-party marks. iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, Studio 397, Motorsport Games, car manufacturers, circuits, championships, Discord, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, TikTok and other names, logos and brands mentioned on the Services belong to their respective owners. We use them to identify the simulators, cars, tracks and platforms we race on and communicate through. No affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied unless we say so expressly.
Third-party platforms and links
The Services link to and work with platforms we do not control, including iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, Discord, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and TikTok, and they rely on service providers for hosting, security and email, which are named in the Privacy Policy. Those platforms and providers have their own terms and privacy practices, which apply when you use them. We are not responsible for their content, availability or how they handle your information, and a link does not mean we endorse a service.
Racing with the team requires your own accounts and content in the relevant simulator. Those accounts are governed by the simulator operator's terms, and we cannot restore access or content that the operator removes.
Availability, changes and what this version does not include
We work to keep the Services available, but we do not promise that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. The Services may at times be unavailable, slow, changed, under maintenance or discontinued in whole or in part. We will try to give reasonable notice of planned maintenance and of discontinuing a Service.
Not included in this version. The website does not currently sell merchandise, take online payments, or provide Track Guides (the dashboard has a Track Guides page, but no guides have been published in it yet), a telemetry application or automatic lap-time capture. Where the website mentions such features, they are being prepared and are not offered. If we introduce any of them, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy first, and the new terms will apply only from the time they are published.
Disclaimers and liability
Provided as they are. 974 charges nothing for the Services in this version; the only payments connected with the website are the ones you make directly to a coach. To the extent permitted by applicable law, they and all 974 Content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or representations about accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or results.
Sim-racing information. Setups, strategies, fuel and stint calculations, lap information, coaching advice and similar material reflect specific conditions at a specific time. Simulator builds, Balance of Performance, track updates, weather, hardware, settings and driving style all change the outcome. Treat such information as guidance to test for yourself, not as a guarantee.
What we do not exclude. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
Indirect losses. Subject to the paragraph above and to the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, data, goodwill or opportunity, or for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, arising from or in connection with the Services.
Coaching. Coaching is delivered by the individual coach and paid to the coach directly; 974 receives no part of the payment. Claims about a session, a payment or a refund are between you and the coach, as described in Section 8, except where the law makes us responsible.
Things outside our control. We are not responsible for failures or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as simulator outages, internet or power failures, actions of third-party platforms, or changes in law, although we will try to limit their effect on you.
Your rights. If you deal with us as a consumer, you may have rights under the law of the country where you live that cannot be excluded or limited. These Terms do not affect those rights.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or restrict your access to the Services, remove you from the team, or close your account where we reasonably believe that:
- you have seriously or repeatedly breached these Terms, including Section 10;
- you have submitted false applications, profiles or statistics;
- your account or conduct presents a security risk to the Services or to other users; or
- we are required to do so by law or by a platform we depend on.
Where practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond, and for less serious issues we will normally warn you first. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
After closure. Coaching bookings already agreed with a coach are a matter between you and the coach. Sections 11, 14 and 16 continue to apply. Published team results that mention you may remain published as part of the team's record. A published driver profile is kept as part of that record, no longer linked to your account, unless you ask us to unpublish or remove it; the Privacy Policy explains what is removed with the account.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Services, are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, and the courts of Qatar have jurisdiction, subject to the paragraph below.
If you are a consumer living outside Qatar, you may benefit from mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and nothing in this section takes away your right to rely on those rules or to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at [email protected]. Most issues can be resolved quickly and informally, and we will respond to complaints in good faith.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add a Service or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. For material changes we will give reasonable advance notice where practical, for example by email to account holders or a notice on the website, before the changes take effect.
If you do not agree with a change, you may stop using the Services and ask us to close your account. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
